We know it can be confusing to figure out what may or may not be a real text message from your health plan. We want to provide you with some information so you can be better informed about what is a real text message from Wellcare and what may not be legitimate.

At Wellcare, we often reach out to our members through text messages as a way to provide important health plan and benefit information, pharmacy or network updates, and more.

You can sign up to receive text and email messages from Wellcare by going to your secure member portal or by calling the number for Member Services on the back of your Member ID Card.

Important Things to Know about Text Messages from Wellcare:

Wellcare will never ask for your personal, financial, or medical information through a text message. You should never provide this information in a text message.

Text messages are sent from a registered Wellcare phone number and the text will clearly state that it is from Wellcare.

If you have questions if a text message sent to you is legitimately from Wellcare, you can call the Member Services number printed on the back of your Member ID card and ask the Wellcare representative about the text.

When you call a phone number included in a text message from Wellcare, your call will be routed to the Wellcare Member Services team. A Wellcare representative will answer the call using “Wellcare” and the representative will also provide their name.

When you call the Member Services phone number on the back of your Member ID Card, a representative will ask you several questions to verify your identity. You may be asked to provide your name, birthdate, address, or Member ID number. This is done to protect both your personal and health information.

We always use correct spelling and try to avoid abbreviations in our text messages.

All Wellcare phone numbers and text messages are vetted and approved by The Campaign Registry, the organization that helps ensure trusted mobile communications. This means Wellcare gives all mobile phone carriers required information that is used to identify legitimate messages from Wellcare.

You can opt out of our text messages at any time by replying STOP to the message.

A Member Services Representative can help you change your email and text communication preferences in your member account. You can also log into your secure member portal to update your communication preferences.

You can choose whether you want to respond to a text message from Wellcare or not. Responding to a text message is not required and does not impact your plan, coverage, or benefits.
